caught in the middle

I had a celebrity sighting today (ok, there were four actually, a Burger King employee turned porn star, a Ms. Norway-Universe from not-so-recent years, a Norwegian Idol judge, and then he) whilst walking along Karl Johan on this rainy autumn Saturday.

I sighted Christian Ingebrigtsen from the now-defunct British boyband A1 singing for Kirkens Nødhjelp, a Christian organization collecting aid for the Third World. His last song was “Caught in the Middle,” one of the few songs of the band I actually like.

As some of you might not know, Christian comes from Norway. And really among the boys in the band, it was he that appealed to me the most. See how my history with Norway goes a long way back. Hahaha! So it was a thrill to finally see him in person, and I was this close to him! So there I was, with an umbrella in one hand and a shopping carrier bag in another (bought a cardigan, and later in the day, a nice f/w jacket), singing…

“…things are so different now you’re gone, thought it’d be easy I was wrong. And now I’m caught, and now I’m caught in the middle…”

he’s quicker than a ray of light

Found this YouTube video of Darren Hayes performing a beautiful cover of Madonna’s Ray of Light.

He’s just beautiful. Plain and simple. He has also released his third album as a solo artist – This Delicate Thing We’ve Made. I’ve searched high and low for this album in the record shops here in Oslo but to no avail. Amazon UK to the rescue!

Also, it’s harrowing to know that my boy Darren is currently on tour and I’m nowhere near his concert venues! My boy R*yan, however, is going to see Darren in Melbourne in October! Ahhhhhh! I sooooo wanna go!

these are a few of my favorite things

Fall season on American TV is here again and I’m gearing up for the full-throttle downloads of my favorite shows.

Heroes – Today, September 24th

Ugly Betty – September 27th

Grey’s Anatomy – September 27th

 Desperate Housewives – September 30th

And my favorite ladies from Sex and the City are putting on their Blahniks (ok, maybe only Carrie) and making us privy once again to their usual breakfast conversations, loves and lives in the city of New York in the upcoming movie version of the series.

Boy, this is gonna be good TV season!

wenche foss at the national theatre

Queen Sonja of Norway today unveiled the statue of soon-90-year-old Wenche Foss, a leading Norwegian actress of stage, screen and television and touted as Norway’s only diva, in front of the National Theatre. Her career spans eight decades.

We provided the flower arrangement for this noteworthy event and I did this small arrangement made with two red passion roses and an aspidistria leaf, which surrounded the event venue and the special area where the Queen and other VIP guests sat during the ceremony.

I like the effect I achieved by making everything but the flower arrangement in greyscale. Maybe I should have blurred the background a lil’ bit?

meet the meat

Knut and I decided to go to the annual Høstutstilling (Fall Exhibition) at the Kunstnernes Hus, an art gallery across the Royal Park Palace today. Last year’s visit was a memorable one, with many a sexually-charged artworks on display.

This year’s exhibition falls quite short in that department, but still gives that shock kick in your groin. Didn’t get the chance to take pictures except for this one, using my crappy phonecam. So pardon the quality, messieurs.

Isn’t that thing just meaty?
