the abominable snowman

With not enough sleep due to a party (pictures later) last night, Knut and I got up early (on a Saturday!) and went to Honefoss, a 1.5-hour bus ride from Oslo, to check out a bubble butt bathtub we were supposed to buy. You see, this tub has high-tech features – a digital control panel, an integrated mp3 player with speakers, underwater lighting, and all the water jets that would simulate massage whilst you are playing with your rubber ducky. It was at a discounted introductory price – so tempting – so we went all the way to their warehouse to have a look before we make the payment. We were told that they’d open the warehouse between 11 and 12, since they don’t normally open shop on Saturdays. Right on the dot, we were there by 11, but guess what, we stood out in the snow for over an hour before someone came. And when we asked for an explanation, they weren’t even apologetic! The asshole said that the person who was supposed to be there didn’t come and they were just there as back-up guys, working on their spare time. Fuck you! We don’t fucking care if you’re working on your spare time, we set an appointment, we expected a professional business transaction, and both of us would be happy, them with our money, us with a new spanking tub. But this proved to be a foul deal to be entangled in. They were very unprofessional and rude. So there goes your 14,000 kroner down the drain, asshole! I was even thinking of pulling out their car’s wipers just to get even.

Okay, aside from that abominable episode, here’s what the rest of my day looked like.

At the town center, they had these bronze statues of a bear, a group of cubs, and an elk.

Outside the warehouse, nestled in a former military base in Honefoss. There’s so much snow everywhere! I’ve never been out in snow this deep.

See how pissed I am?
We were thinking of going skiing tomorrow since the weather’s been snow-friendly, but after standing out in the snow and freezing my feet as if my toes would fall off, I don’t think I could handle any more snow for the weekend.

saturday is for shopping

I am starting to develop this manic habit of buying new clothes and accessories whenever there’s a party coming up, which here in Oslo, comes in like every week. With a birthday party to attend last night, I stormed the shops in one of Oslo’s more-exclusive shopping avenues called Bogstadveien, brimming with eye- and purse-popping boutiques.

My first stop was Zara, its only store in the whole of Norway and I picked up a hooded top from their S/S 2007 collection and a pair of shoes, which turns out to be my fifth for the year. Really, one can never have too many shoes. After that, a little stroll down the avenue found me in Tatler, which houses brands such as Filippa K, J. Lindeberg, Polo Ralph Lauren, Armani, and Paul Smith among others. I snapped a white down winter jacket from J. Lindeberg. I love all the details of this jacket, from the printed lining (with huge pixel fonts) to the inner pockets to keep your cellphone, wallet, and other stuff in place. Happiness.

And to think someone’s celebrating his birthday next Friday.

moods of norway

Saw this stretch parked outside the flowershop this afternoon.

Me thinks it’s very cool.

It’s very Moods of Norway.

How can it be so wrong, if it feels so right?

cannonball

Cannonball – Damien Rice

Still a little bit of your taste in my mouth
Still a little bit of you laced with my doubt
Still a little hard to say what’s going onStill a little bit of your ghost your witness
Still a little bit of your face I haven’t kissed
You step a little closer each day
Still I can’t say what’s going on

Stones taught me to fly
Love taught me to lie
Life taught me to die
So it’s not hard to fall
When you float like a cannonball

Still a little bit of your song in my ear
Still a little bit of your words I long to hear
You step a little closer to me
So close that I can’t see what’s going on

Stones taught me to fly
Love taught me to lie
Life taught me to die
So it’s not hard to fall
When you float like a cannon

Stones taught me to fly
Love taught me to cry
So come on courage!
Teach me to be shy
‘Cause it’s not hard to fall
And I don’t wanna scare her
It’s not hard to fall
And I don’t wanna lose
It’s not hard to grow
When you know that you just don’t knowThanks for the Skype call, Liz. Now this is our song, betch! I love love love it! Love your journal entries, open them up for me!

curveball
