matthew williamson for H&M

With the launch of the men’s summer collection from the “Matthew Williamson for H&M” today, I went to two local stores here in Oslo and checked out the wares. The first noticeable thing was that there wasn’t any clamor, well at least in the two stores I’ve been to. Then the next thing that arrests your vision is the kaleidoscope of color splashed across key pieces, jeans, tops and accessories.

I first walked to the navy blazers which I was excited about trying on. Although I loved the cut and fit, I felt it was too costumey. And I thought of wearability mileage. A major wardrobe piece like this with a recall factor could only be worn a few/couple times at most.

I then skipped to the seersucker suit, which most think is the best or must-have piece off the collection. My suit size on this was big on me, compared to the navy blazer which fit like a glove. But then again I didn’t bother trying the next size down. Maybe I should go down the store and see again.

I’ve passed on the studded neon jeans and shorts, the psychedelic tie-dye t-shirts, the all-too-heavy leather jacket, and the rest of the accessories including the beetle green sneakers. But I decided to go home with this.

White dress shirt with the trademark Williamson print detail on the vertical opening. I loved the playful insertion of colors into the pristine white, it’s definitely a fun piece to have in one’s party wardrobe.

    beautiful shirt!

i so wish i could get my hands on some of these items, but alas I live about 3500 km from the Toronto H&M, which as far as I know is the only H&M in Canada that gets the designer collections. :(

BTW, what sizes does that run from? Small to extra large? Is it considered a long shirt, so you can tuck into pants easily with it coming out always?

i kinda agree with you on the strong recall factor of the navy blazer. but if it fits you perfect, why not go for it anyway? its a fun summery piece and price-wise i doubt it would create a dent on the LV budget ;-)
