darn good tv

I was supposed to write about this last night but my connection was screwing up. Last night was a darn good TV night. With three shows battling it out for my attention – the girls’ turn on American Idol, the two-hour premiere of the Amazing Race 9, and the big revelation of one of Big Brother’s housemates. Well, let’s skip the AI episode, the girls were a tad boring and sub-standard in performances. The boys who performed tonight were hotter and better.

The Amazing Race, one of my favorite TV shows ever, is back in the boob tube and I am quite happy with the initial run. From the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado to the intoxicating Sao Paulo in Brazil, this new installment promises hours of sheer thrill, adventure, and excitement amidst backstabbings, bickerings and banters, misadventures, misdirections and mishaps. My favorite team so far is Erik-Jeremy, the photo says it all. Oh, I am so shallow!

I hope they’ll cross the Philippines once again. They went here for the limestone cliffs of El Nido in Palawan, the rice paddies in Aurora, and the unique Coconut Palace in Manila. On a similar note, there would be an Amazing Race Asia Edition, and applications are ongoing thru the 15th of March. My colleague and I are planning to join, but we haven’t got a clue how to do our 3-minute video. If you and your partner are interested to join, visit the AXN Asia website for details.

In a tearful Tuesday night revelation at the Pinoy Big Brother house, former actor Rustom Padilla of the renowned showbiz Padilla clan admitted that he’s gay and that he was left black-and-blue by his father when he found him dressed in girl’s clothes at age four, and that his mother admonished him afterwards. He was once married to a local actress, but true enough, the relationship didn’t last long, with speculations going around back then about his undisclosed true sexuality. He went to the States to find himself and the answers to his lifelong questions. And two nights ago, after seeing a sign – a butterfly fluttering about and landing on his knees – he finally let go of the inner monsters and came to terms with his sexuality. This is better than our Sunday showbiz talk shows, it sizzles!

kitjar, yes there’s a team of gay friends – not a couple – friends. bit on the mince-y side, the typical oh-my-god-i-am-so-stressed-out type. the darker one looks like a big jaded queen. no hunks like reichen and chip. sigh. and yes, mark, the frat boys all the way ;)

Hey Kitjar! There WAS a gay team and they got eliminated first. So-so, no recall whatsoever on those two. Did I tell you I got to interview Reichen and Chip before along with other PR agents from SEAsia before? Well, we just did it over the phone, but it was an amazing experience for me!

Hey R*yan! Thanks for that vivid descirption for Kitjar. :-) Those two frat boys are hot and with the racing abilities to boot. Hope those two would be able to concentrate on winning – they just keep on checking out the hooties and the booties of the girls. Ugh!

Hey Jay! Yeah, I must say I am. There’s TAR, AI, Apprentice, and Survivor – but not so much of the last two anymore.

Hey Ash! To make it clear, the butterfly was the “sign” which led him to confess. You know those “signs” you ask from God/the heavens when you are contemplating on what to do next or answers to your questions? That kind of “sign.” But I love the “sign” you mentioned. So you have the hots for Colby, eh? I always see his brother KC (MTV VJ, too) and in a few instances their brother Troy.

    Happy Saturday!
