Hello yellow!

If the taxicab yellow opening number were any indication, the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2010 collection’s predominantly beige and grey incarnations would be peppered with striking colours. In caps, on heels and under the soles of the stunning selection of shoes. There were even metallic pairs in blue, gold and green! The latter made me cream. Silk scarves and pocket squares peeking out from navy suits also got some colour treatment.

Even the classic and subdued Taiga leather presented in a variety of to-die-for bags is revived with strokes of burgundies, greens and blues.

I totally LVoe the burgundy and blue top-handles. If the BBB (Baked Beans Boys) budget allows it, I want to get either one of these. The two-handle option and the two-zipper outer compartment for the blue cabas are too good of a structure detail to miss.

Inspired by city bike messengers, studio director Paul Helbers presents us with a collection that combines luxury with an urban, agile character. Belted waist pouches and messenger bags are an easy option for on-the-go affairs, but when it comes to travel/weekender offerings, it’s the bigger the better mantra that rules. Some backpacks are so huge I could seriously fit in them. And I’m not a puny boy.

Resonating the business appeal of the Taiga leather, it’s the briefcases that are really at the fore of the bag front.

This collection is truly impeccable. Is it next spring yet?

June 24, 2007. Prada presents its phantasmagoric Spring Summer 2008 collection in Milan. Fast forward to almost two years later.

June 22, 2009. A package from YOOX by way of Bologna arrives in Oslo, eliciting a teeny weeny silent squeal…

And then gasps of joy, as the checked patterns unfurl from the delicate wrapping.

One of the key pieces of the Prada Spring Summer 2008 mens collection appearing on the runway and in the ad campaign, this 100% cotton short sleeved shirt features a single external pocket and discreet logo printing. The colors are both playful and classic which I love. I also love that I got it on sale from YOOX, where service and shipping are top-notch.

Here’s a quick composition, pairing the shirt with a rolled pair of blue shorts and Gucci leather loafers.

Gucci and Frida Giannini served subdued colors punctuated by kilim patterns on clothes and accented by sparse bright hues in some irresistible accessories when it presented its Spring Summer 2010 mens collection in Milan yesterday.

Here are my favorites from the runway.

       

I am feeling the love for this shirt with a playful pattern. It’s like tanagram pieces strewn over a gorgeous piece of cotton. The loafers in white with silver horsebit detail will be a staple come next spring.

       

A welcome variation, I like this shirt with geometrical tricks. Very optical illusion!

       

This luscious jacket with extended silk cuffs is both jovial and mean. The sheen is exciting!

       

The casual jacket with nylon details on the left is perfect for chilly spring days, whereas the very light pair of shorts looks like a match to beach heaven. The leather tote in grey is to die for (is it croc?). I see the price, I die.

       

       

Scooting onto the accessories front, I like this pair of leather moccasins with a Gucci trademark engraved clip closure detail. As well as this generous tote with blue leather trim that’s very simple and clean. It comes in cheery yellow, too.

Here’s part two of the recent Kamikaze sale loot. And no, there are no diamonds.

But a Gucci box fell down from the sky. 

Let there be shoes. And there were shoes…

And multi-colored calf leather trim…

And heels of violet and aqua blue…

And electric blue tassels, fringes and script signature…

And soles of fine leather.

And then summer turned brighter, bolder and beautiful.

Figuring in the Spring 2009 Men’s Gucci runway show in Milan last year and appearing in the season ad campaign and catalogue, these leather sole loafers definitely create a style statement. Its brightly colored profile is only a playful palette to what’s most vital – the amazing skill put into crafting it. I can’t help but feel, admire and look closely into every single detail. This pair, along with my blue suede loafers, starts my blooming love affair with Gucci shoes. I think they are exquisite – classics being given a fresh and bold reinterpretation.

Oslo Pride is underway and I think I’ve just got the perfect pair to take to the streets.

As if the universe conspired, I paid Kamikaze a visit again today. And to my delight, I saw the signs. Sale!!! The signs weren’t there last Saturday when I picked up my Gucci loafers. You could imagine my relief when I saw that my shoes weren’t on sale. Otherwise I would have ripped the floors apart and cried. Kidding. No, but really.

Anyway, I picked up two items. And here’s the first one.

It’s a tie from Prada called Arabesque, named so for the repeating geometric forms of seemingly vegetal design. 

I loved the color – which I later found out the translation of – Hematite. It’s this bluish grey hue with a hint of silver giving the tie a sober sheen. Made in Italy of 100% silk, this understated tie is just perfect on a crisp white shirt.

We love Prada.

step into summer with some blue suede shoes

After a failed attempt at Louis Vuitton where the navy Monte Carlo loafers are not stocked, my search for a pair of blue summer shoes led me to Kamikaze, Oslo’s only purveyor of main collection lines from Italian luxury brands such as Prada, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. 

Here comes the summer sun.

Get your Gucci on.

I instantly fell in love with these blue suede moccasins from Gucci. They’re comfortable to wear and feature details that exude sober style – from the soft suede and coated trademark horsebit detail on the vamp, to the perforated leather inset on the heel and the contrast pieced rubber sole. The color is a deep royal blue that’s hard to capture on camera. I tried my best.

Easily a summertime chameleon by pairing with either a rolled white Acne jeans or khaki Bermuda shorts, these moccasins are definitely a style staple for languid afternoons sipping coffee or exploring lazy streets in my next travel destination. Two months and counting!

A handsome mobile phone deserves a cool charm companion. And that’s exactly what I found in the Louis Vuitton Cube phone accessory in palladium. Mirroring the steel body feature of my Nokia E71, the sober yet trendy phone charm features two cubes inscribed with the words Louis Vuitton Paris hanging from a chain. 

Biancaboo also got the same phone charm (we’re twins!), along with her two new Inclusion bracelets during our visit to the store yesterday.
